In early October 2025, Taylor Swift made a round of appearances on late-night television shows not seen in years to promote her new album The Life of a Showgirl. Among the highlights was her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday, October 6, which became one of the highest-rated regular episodes for the show in recent memory.
To capitalize on these interviews, NBC “squeezed” the content: in addition to the original episode, an extended version of the segment with Swift was scheduled, and related material was also aired on Late Night with Seth Meyers. The resulting three episodes ranked among the network’s top 175 airings for the week of October 6-12, according to ratings data compiled by Nielsen.
The Tonight Show with Taylor Swift’s original broadcast reached 1.86 million live viewers, ranking as the 91st most-watched telecast that week for the network. That performance represented one of the highest regular audiences for the show since at least 2023 – not counting episodes with special sporting events.
The extended version, aired on Friday, October 10, garnered 1.21 million live viewers.
On Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Oct. 8 appearance was watched in late-night (after midnight on the East Coast) by more than 1 million live viewers. In addition, that episode achieved its highest rating in the 18-49 demographic since January, according to NBC reports.
Taylor Swift and the records of her new music era

Swift’s presence drove increases of up to 50% in the 18-49 demographic audience for The Tonight Show with Fallon, up from 161,000 to 242,000 viewers in that segment.
For Late Night, the increases were also notable: it went from about 175,000 in demos on Wednesday and 993,000 total viewers, a growth of 13% overall.
In addition to the impact on linear television, digital clips of his episode with Fallon increased digital views by 95%, and interactions were up 142%.
Taylor Swift’s twelfth album was officially released on October 3, 2025. In its first week, The Life of a Showgirl debuted with 4.002 million equivalent album units, combining physical and streaming sales, making it the best release in Billboard chart history since tracking began in 1991.
Of that total, 3,479,500 units corresponded to pure album sales, while 522,600 units came from streaming.
The album was available in 38 different versions, including multiple physical (CDs, vinyl, special boxes) and digital formats, which helped boost its sales and impact.
