The singer of hits such as “Dai Dai”—the official anthem of the 2026 World Cup—and “Pies Descalzos” made it clear that this type of content not only affects her public image but also fuels rumors and misleading advertising campaigns.
Shakira denounces the circulation of fake images
In her Instagram post, the artist explained that over the past few weeks, various images created with AI tools have begun circulating, which, she said, depict completely fictional scenarios.
“In recent weeks, some images of me have been artificially created, placing me in situations that never happened or with people I’ve never been with,” wrote the Barranquilla native.
Shakira also pointed out that several of those images have been used to promote brands she has never worked with or to fuel baseless speculation about her personal life.
The singer stated that, while she acknowledges the enormous advances in technology and understands that artificial intelligence is part of the present and the future, she considers it essential to set limits when these tools infringe on people’s identity and reputation.
In an effort to stop the spread of this material, Shakira said her legal and communications teams are already taking action.
“My team is currently working actively to take down those images,” the singer explained, making it clear that she will seek to prevent the continued spread of false content that uses her image without authorization.
The artist did not specify how many photographs have been identified, nor did she detail the legal actions she might take, although her message suggests that the matter is already being formally addressed.

In addition to speaking out about the situation, Shakira took the opportunity to thank her fans, who have helped identify and debunk several of these posts on various digital platforms.

“It’s a relief to know that my fans can recognize reality and tell the difference between it and what’s been generated by artificial intelligence. I’m very grateful to see how effectively they communicate this,” she said.

Many linked her message to a series of photoshopped images that have recently been circulating on the social media platform X, posted by an account identified as @ShakiraVerse. In these AI-generated images, the singer allegedly appears alongside Mexican actor Manuel García-Rulfo in intimate or compromising scenes, which sparked numerous comments and rumors among internet users.
Although the artist never confirmed that those posts were the specific reason for her statement, many followers believe that those images may have prompted her decision to speak publicly on the issue.
