British singer Dua Lipa continues her tour of Latin America as part of her Radical Optimism Tour, a tour characterized not only by its large-scale stage production – lights, moving platforms, immersive visuals and precise choreography – but also by her interest in connecting emotionally and culturally with each country she visits.
Since the beginning of the tour, Dua has incorporated a gesture that has become a tradition: performing a cover of a local artist in her own language, which has been enthusiastically received in all the cities where she performs.

Dua Lipa’s tribute to Shakira
In Colombia, Dua Lipa decided to pay tribute to one of the country’s most emblematic artists: Shakira. The song chosen was “Antología”, one of the most personal and representative songs of Shakira’s early repertoire, originally included in her album Pies Descalzos ( 1995).
The moment took place at the El Campin Stadium in Bogota, where thousands of attendees were surprised to hear the first chords of the classic. As soon as Dua began to sing in Spanish, the entire stadium broke into applause and later into a massive chorus that accompanied each verse. Videos of the moment quickly went viral on platforms such as TikTok, X and Instagram.
The performance not only thrilled the audience, but also directly reached Shakira, who a few hours later posted a message on her social networks reacting to the surprise. In her message she expressed:
“I’m very touched to hear my song with Dua’s voice, in the same city where I wrote it years ago. See how music brings us together? A girl from London and a girl from Barranquilla! Thank you Dua Lipa! What a joy!”
These words confirmed the deep emotional meaning that “Antología” has for her, a song she composed in Bogotá and that continues to be, almost three decades later, a symbol of her career.

Dua Lipa responded with gratitude and admiration, thanking Shakira for the inspiration and the Colombian public for the warm reception they gave her.
After Colombia, Dua Lipa will continue her tour with three performances in Mexico City, scheduled for December 1, 2 and 5, all of them at the GNP Seguros Stadium. Following the tradition of paying tribute to local artists, Mexican social networks have already begun to speculate about which song she might choose to perform in Spanish.
Among the most repeated bets is “Querida”, one of the most emblematic songs by Mexican icon Juan Gabriel, whose work is a fundamental part of the country’s musical heritage. Although there is no official confirmation so far, the public is excited to find out which tribute will be selected by the British artist.
With each concert in Latin America, Dua Lipa reinforces her image as an artist open to cultural exchange and deeply respectful of Spanish-speaking audiences. The tribute to Shakira in Bogota was not only an emotional moment in the show, but also a demonstration of the power of music to connect generations, countries and traditions.
