American Lindsey Vonn suffered a fall Friday during the World Cup downhill in Crans Montana (Switzerland) and withdrew from the competition with a limp and pain in her left leg. Vonn, 41, who has five podium finishes in five races this season, lost control when she landed a jump and ended up tangled in the safety nets at the top of the course.
The American got up after receiving medical attention and walked away slowly, leaning on her left knee with the help of canes. When she reached the finish line, she limped in to continue with the scans. This fall, with a heavy blow to the left knee, the opposite of the right knee in which she suffered a partial titanium replacement, comes a week before the start of the Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy), the main objective of the season.
“My Olympic dream is not over”

U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn is not giving up on participating in the Olympic Games despite the serious fall she suffered this Friday in a World Cup downhill in Crans Montana (Switzerland), as reported on social networks.
Vonn, 41, published a text giving hope about her physical condition:
“I fell today on the descent in Switzerland and injured my left knee.”
“I am addressing the situation with my doctors and my team and will continue to pass tests. My Olympic dream is not over.”
The American, who had podiumed in every World Cup event she had competed in this season, lost control when she landed a jump and walked away slowly.
“It’s a very difficult result a week before the Olympics…,” he noted.
His message after the fall

Lindsey Vonn retired from competition in 2019 after three Olympic and eight world medals.
But he returned to the highest level at the end of 2025 with the intention of competing in Milan-Cortina 2026.
He also made reference to this fact in his publication.
If there's one thing I know to do, it's make a comeback
Lindsey Vonn
He ended his statement by thanking the medical staff for their support and assistance.
And remembering Norwegian skier Marte Monsen, who also suffered an accident on Friday.
