On a sporting level, Cristiano Ronaldo left for Saudi Arabia after the Qatar 2022 World Cup, after completing a gray second spell at Manchester United.

He is currently concentrating with his national team, Portugal, for the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup to be played in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

A tournament of great importance for Cristiano Ronaldo, having not won it on any occasion in five previous participations -Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022-; always scoring at least one goal.

Moreover, should he join the Portuguese national team in 2026, he could become the first player to participate in six editions of a World Cup; something that Leo Messi, with Argentina, could also achieve.

He wants to “keep playing for a few more years, but not many”.

Cristiano Ronaldo “wants to continue playing for a few more years,” but “not many,” the Portuguese footballer announced last night when he received a trophy at a gala organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).

The Saudi Al Nassr player was awarded the ‘Globo Prestige’ at the FPF’s “Portugal Football Globes”.

In his speech he addressed his future by stating that both the trophy and the longevity of his career are “a source of great pride”.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who is 40 years old, is currently training with the Portugal national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Ireland on October 11 and Hungary on October 14, both at the Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon.

The team coached by Spain’s Roberto Martinez leads Group F after two victories and could secure its presence in the competition to be played in Mexico, Canada and the United States as early as this matchday.

However, Cristiano urged to “think about the present”.

“Our goal is to win our next two games. We’ll see about the World Cup,” he said.
