The Spanish band Hombres G announced on Wednesday the release on April 30 of ‘Los mejores años de nuestra vida’, a documentary film that will be accompanied by the release of a new single and an international tour of the same name in Spain and Latin America that will begin in May.

“Four decades have passed and we still feel the same when we go on stage. This project has made us realize how much everything has changed… and how much remains the same: friendship, music and the affection of the public,” said band members David Summers, Rafael Gutiérrez, Daniel Mezquita and Javier Molina in a statement.

The documentary, an original for Movistar Plus+, is directed by Charlie Arnaiz and Alberto Ortega (‘Raphaelismo’, ‘Supergarcía’, ‘Waldo’, ‘Anatomía de un Dandy’) and shows the group’s career through a contemporary perspective.

It combines unpublished material, images of the band during an international tour of Spain, Latin America and the United States, and testimonials from leading artists in the Hispanic music scene.

Among them are Alejandro Sanz, Ana Torroja, Carlos Vives, Carin León and Carlos Rivera, according to a press release from Movistar Plus+ and A contracorriente Films, which informed that the project is currently in production.

For its directors, “more than a documentary about a band, this film is a celebration of shared time, of the people who grow up with their songs and of the magic of continuing to feel the same when they play”, in Arnaiz’s words.

“The most valuable thing about this shoot has been witnessing that authenticity. We haven’t filmed idols, but people who laugh, get excited and continue to enjoy making music as if it were the first time,” said Ortega, reported Agencia EFE.
