Sergio “Checo” Pérez faces the 2026 Barcelona GP (Grand Prix) with a mixture of optimism and urgency. The Mexican driver continues to work with Cadillac in a season that has been marked by the constant development of the single-seater and the search for competitiveness against more experienced teams in Formula 1.
The seventh date of the championship comes at an important moment for the Mexican driver. Although the results still do not fully reflect the work done by the American team, the sensations obtained during the Monaco Grand Prix left encouraging signs for the immediate future.
>On the Principality’s street circuit, Perez came close to achieving one of the most important goals of the season: to advance to Q2 during qualifying. The performance of the car showed an evident evolution compared to the first races of the year, allowing the Mexican driver to compete closer to the middle of the grid.
Monaco left a good impression despite the result

The race in Monte Carlo had moments that fed the illusion within the Cadillac team.
For most of the race, Checo managed to stay in competitive positions and even crossed the finish line in the top ten.
However, a ten-second penalty applied after the race changed the final standings.
And it ended up moving the Mexican away from the points zone.
Although the official result was not as expected, the performance confirmed that Cadillac continues to make progress in its process of adaptation to the highest category of motorsport.
For Checo Pérez, the Barcelona GP represents an immediate opportunity to prove that what happened in Monaco was not a fluke.
And that the team has arguments to start fighting for more competitive positions on a regular basis.
An ideal circuit for measuring progress

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is considered one of the most demanding venues on the calendar.
This is due to the variety of curves and sectors that test all aspects of a single-seater.
For that reason, Cadillac’s performance in Spain will be an important reference to evaluate the true level of evolution of the project during this season (Filed as: Checo Pérez at the Barcelona GP).
