“Little House on the Prairie” was one of the most popular TV series of the 1970s and 1980s worldwide, telling the story of the Ingalls family in Minnesota during the last third of the 19th century. Created by Michael Landon, it was adapted from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s series of autobiographical novels, with Melissa Gilbert portraying Laura Ingalls Wilder—a role now taken on by young Alice Halsey in the new eight-episode adaptation of this story.
