Karol G once again captured the attention of millions of fans, though this time it wasn’t because of a new music release. The Colombian singer shared an open letter addressed to Colombia’s president-elect, Abelardo de la Espriella, in which she called on him to govern with responsibility, empathy, and inclusivity, setting aside the political differences that marked the electoral process.

The post quickly went viral on social media, where thousands of users highlighted the respectful tone of the message and the artist’s intention to promote dialogue. Shortly afterward, the president-elect publicly responded to the singer’s words, sparking an exchange that became one of the most talked-about topics of the day.

In the statement released through her digital platforms, Karol G made it clear that her intention was not to express political support or to voice opposition to the new government, but rather to speak as a citizen concerned about the country’s future.

“I am not writing to you as a supporter. I am not writing to you as an opponent. I am writing to you as a Colombian woman who deeply loves her country,” the singer wrote at the beginning of her letter.

The artist noted that, once the electoral process is over, the real challenge for any leader begins: representing the entire population without ideological distinctions.

For Karol G, victory at the polls should not be seen as a personal achievement, but rather as a huge responsibility that involves listening to all sectors of society and working for the common good.

In another of the most notable parts of her message, the singer reflected on the meaning of power and the commitment involved in serving as a country’s president.

As he stated, leadership must be exercised with sensitivity, openness to dialogue, and respect for those who think differently.

“Power is not a trophy; it is not a prize; it is a responsibility,” wrote the singer, who also expressed her hope that the new government will be able to build bridges between the different sectors of Colombian society.

Karol G emphasized that her letter was not intended to fuel divisions or spark political confrontations, but rather to create a space for reflection on the country’s future and the importance of prioritizing the well-being of all citizens.

It didn’t take long for the singer’s words to elicit a response. Abelardo de la Espriella posted a message in which he thanked the artist for her gesture and assured that one of his main commitments will be to govern for all Colombians, regardless of who they voted for in the election.

“I said it during the campaign, and it is my unwavering commitment: to govern for all Colombians,” wrote the president-elect.

He also stated that the presidency should become a symbol of national unity and reiterated that he will work to represent all citizens during his term in office.

In his response, Abelardo de la Espriella also extended a direct invitation to Karol G to join the national reconstruction efforts.

The president-elect stated that Colombia needs the participation of all citizens committed to the country’s development and invited the singer to contribute in whatever way she sees fit.

Their exchange sparked a wide-ranging conversation on social media, where users debated the role that public figures can play in matters of national interest.

Although Karol G often speaks out on social and humanitarian causes, she rarely addresses political issues directly. That is precisely why her letter sparked so much interest, as it showcased a stance focused on promoting dialogue, empathy, and the search for consensus for Colombia’s future, beyond ideological differences.
