U.S. President and First Lady Donald and Melania Trump traveled Tuesday to their Mar-a-Lago mansion in Florida to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday for the first time since the Republican’s return to the White House.
This will be the president’s 15th visit to his resort, according to an account in the local newspaper The Palm Beach Post, which describes the Thanksgiving feast at the property as the start of the local Christmas and New Year’s Eve holiday season.
Thanksgiving loaded with symbolism

On this occasion, the first lady accompanies Donald Trump on his trip, a rare occurrence that highlights the importance of Thanksgiving.
Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s favorite residence and described by those close to him as a “mini Versailles” for its opulence, has been over the years the place chosen by the president to celebrate several of the most important holidays of the year.
During his first term, between 2017 and 2021, the Republican spent three Thanksgiving seasons in residence.
In 2019, from there he secretly flew to Afghanistan to share the traditional turkey and pumpkin pie dinner with U.S. troops.
Between luxury and tradition

Mar-a-Lago’s exclusive parties are famous for bringing together influential tycoons, donors and politicians.
Last Halloween, Trump welcomed his guests with a pompous ‘The Great Gatsby’-themed celebration.
This in the midst of the longest government shutdown in the country’s history.
Before departing for Florida on Air Force One, the presidential couple fulfilled the annual tradition of pardoning two turkeys on Tuesday.
Thanks to this forgiveness, they will not be sacrificed for Thanksgiving dinner.
During these dates, almost 50 million turkeys are consumed in the United States, the main dish of Thanksgiving dinner.
This is the most important family festival in the country.
This is celebrated every last Thursday of November to commemorate a 1621 dinner between British and Indian settlers celebrating a good harvest.
