U.S. President Donald Trump denied Friday that the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey is for revenge and assured that “it is for justice.”
“It’s about justice. Really, this is not a matter of revenge. This cannot be allowed to continue to happen,” the president said when asked by reporters as he left the White House to go to a golf tournament in New York.
Comey lashes out at Comey after indictment

Donald Trump defined Comey as a “sick” person and from the “radical left.”
“He is a corrupt cop. He’s always been a corrupt cop. Everybody knows it,” he added.
Comey was indicted Thursday by a grand jury in Virginia on false statement and obstruction charges brought by the Justice Department.
Days after Donald Trump urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to take action against his political opponents.
Accuses him of lying to Congress
Specifically, he is accused of lying to Congress during his appearance in September 2020 when he denied being responsible for leaking information to the press about the investigation into Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.
“The only problem is that he didn’t think he would get caught, and he did get caught,” Trump said.
“He lied. He lied about a lot of things but this one was very important. He could have said, well, maybe, or I don’t remember, but he didn’t say that.”
‘Destroyer of lives’
Minutes earlier, the Republican had already charged against the former FBI director on his social network, Truth Social, where he referred to him as “a destroyer of lives.”
And he noted that he will have to pay a “very high price” for his lies.
Comey for his part defended his innocence and called on Americans not to live in fear:
“My heart hurts for the Justice Department, but I have great confidence in the federal judicial system, and I’m innocent, so let’s have a trial and keep the faith,” he said.
