U.S. President Donald Trump announced Saturday his decision to deploy troops and his authorization for the use of “full force” in Portland, Oregon state.
“At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to provide all necessary troops to protect war-torn Portland and any of our ICE facilities under siege by Antifa and other domestic terrorist attacks,” Trump wrote on his social networking site, Truth Social.
Intensifies military deployment

This is the third deployment of troops ordered by Trump, following Los Angeles (California), Washington DC and Memphis (Tennessee).
With which it increases the presence of military and federal agency forces in Democratic cities.
Portland’s mayor and Oregon’s governor are Democrats and had rejected the troop deployment.
The president made this decision after several days of protests in front of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center.
That has been happening according to some of the Republican’s decisions, such as designating the Antifa movement as a terrorist group.
Portland, home of Antifa in the spotlight
It was in Portland that Rose City Antifa, one of the movement’s best known groups today, was founded.
Trump’s decision in Oregon City may also have been motivated by this week’s shooting in Dallas, Texas, at an ICE facility that left one immigrant dead and two others wounded.
FBI Director Kash Patel shared a photo showing an unused bullet cartridge on which ‘ANTI-ICE’ is written in blue ink, claiming it had been found at the scene.
Expanded list of cities
In the aftermath, Trump accused Democrats of encouraging rhetoric against immigration authorities.
Portland was one of the U.S. cities identified as a possible destination for the troops.
As well as Chicago (Illinois), Baltimore (Maryland), San Francisco (California), New Orleans (Louisiana) or St. Louis (Missouri), all governed by Democrats.
