The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced the list of nominees for its 2026 ceremony, bringing together iconic figures from a range of musical genres, from pop and rock to hip-hop, folk and R&B. Among the most prominent names are Taylor Swift, Kenny Loggins, LL Cool J, Pink, Sarah McLachlan and David Byrne, frontman of the influential band Talking Heads.

This selection reflects the diversity and impact that these artists have had on the history of modern music, both for their work as performers and for their talent as composers.

This year’s list spans multiple generations and styles. The performer-songwriter category also includes Charlotte Caffey, Kathy Valentine and Jane M. Wiedlin, members of The Go-Go-Go’s, one of the most influential female new wave bands of the 1980s.

Also featured are Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings of The Guess Who; Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell of America; and Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, co-founders of the legendary glam rock band Kiss.

The nomination of Simmons and Stanley coincides with a particularly emotional time for the band’s fans, coming just days after the passing of Ace Frehley, lead guitarist and founding member of Kiss, who died on October 16 in New Jersey at the age of 74.

Rounding out the performer-songwriter category are iconic names from different eras. Richard Carpenter, of the duo The Carpenters, is recognized for hits such as Goodbye to Love, Top of the World and Yesterday Once More. Also featured is Harry Wayne Casey, known artistically as KC of KC and the Sunshine Band, creator of disco classics like That’s The Way (I Like It) and (Shake Shake Shake Shake) Shake Your Booty. They are joined by guitarist and singer Boz Scaggs, known for his fusion of soul, rock and R&B.
