English comedian and actor Russell Brand appeared Tuesday at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London via videoconference from the United States charged with two new sex offenses, including one of rape.
The actor was already accused last year of five such crimes: two of rape, one of indecent assault and two of sexual assault, allegedly committed between 1999 and 2005 and involving four women, but he denied them in court at the time.
At a court hearing today, the 50-year-old performer appeared from the U.S. to answer for one additional count of rape and one count of sexual assault, both allegedly committed in 2009.

Wearing a denim shirt with several buttons undone, Brand spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth during the six-minute court hearing.
The court granted him bail but he must appear in person at Southwark Crown Court in Southwark, south of the British capital, on February 17.
The trial against Brand is expected to begin on June 3 of this year at the Southwark court and is expected to last for eight weeks, until July 25, reported Agencia EFE.
