MLS breaks all-time record: million-dollar transfer spending 2025

Major League Soccer (MLS) reached a historic milestone in 2025 by investing approximately $336 million in signings.

This surpasses the previous record of 188 million recorded in 2024 and represents an increase of almost 75%.

Among the most impactful MLS additions are:

Son Heung-min joined LAFC from Tottenham for a record $26.5 million, the most expensive transfer in league history.

Rodrigo De Paul, an Argentine world champion, signed with Inter Miami from Atletico Madrid in a deal valued at approximately €15 million (≈ US$17 million), ranking as the third most expensive signing in MLS history.

Also impacting MLS were Emmanuel Latte Lath and Kevin Denkey, other multi-million dollar transfers that helped boost total spending.
