After two rounds, MLS slightly dominates the Leagues Cup with more head-to-head points: 56 to Liga MX’s 52.

Despite Mexico’s good performance on penalties and Tijuana’s win, several clubs have complicated their path to the round of 16.

Next day’s matches will determine which four Mexican teams qualify for the knockout stage, as only the top four teams from each league advance to the quarterfinals.

The format calls for inter-league clashes and awards an extra point to the winner of the penalty shootout.

Key calendar: what’s next?
Currently, the group stage will continue until August 7.
The quarterfinals kick off on August 19-20.
Semifinals: August 26-27.
Grand final: August 31.
Teams such as América, Chivas and Monterrey face pressure:

Every mistake can leave out a historic Mexican.

In contrast, Cruz Azul, Juárez and Tijuana still have a real chance of advancing.
