Lionel Messi’s talent is once again making headlines in the United States. In Week 29 of MLS 2025, the Argentine star was once again awarded “Goal of the Day”, confirming his status as the league’s offensive leader.
In addition, the team is advancing in the Leagues Cup, albeit with concerns about his recent muscle soreness.

Messi earned another Goal of the Day award for his low free kick against Nashville SC to open the scoring in Inter Miami’s 2-1 win.
With this, he reached five distinctions so far this season, the most by a player to date.
He is also the MLS scoring leader with 19 goals, followed closely by Nashville SC’s Sam Surridge with 18.

Messi recently returned from a thigh injury and was instrumental in the 3 1 win over LA Galaxy:
He scored the game-defining goal and set up Luis Suárez with an impressive backheel.
Even so, he showed signs of muscle discomfort.
In his last Leagues Cup match, he suffered discomfort and left early, generating uncertainty about his availability.
Will Messi be in the quarterfinals?

Inter Miami will face Tigres UANL this Wednesday, August 20, in the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup 2025 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
Messi’s participation remains a question mark, as he did not train with the team this week due to persistent muscular discomfort, although coach Javier Mascherano is confident that he will be available.
The match will be broadcast in the U.S. on MLS Season Pass (Apple TV+), FS1, TUDN USA, UniMás and Fubo Sports.
With Messi in form, his goals and leadership not only elevate the team, but generate hope, conversation and unity in social media and Latino communities.
