Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony, and the rap group The Roots are among the ten artists who will perform at the opening ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, a museum that chronicles the political and personal life of the first African American president of the United States.

The Obama Foundation announced Tuesday that the opening ceremony, scheduled for June 18, will also feature performances by Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Common, Eddie Vedder, Tems, and U2 members Bono and The Edge.

Marc Anthony publicly supported Obama during his presidential campaigns, participated in events to mobilize the Latino vote, and took part in buzzy events related to his 2009 inauguration, making him one of the most visible Latino figures associated with the then-president.

In Christina Aguilera’s case, the relationship was less political but closely tied to initiatives promoted by the White House, as the singer participated in community service activities and supported campaigns related to child nutrition promoted by Michelle Obama.

The event will be held at John Lewis Plaza within the complex and will bring together leaders, artists, and activists to celebrate the opening of the center, which was designed as a space to promote civic engagement and community leadership.

The Obama Presidential Center, located in South Chicago, will open to the public on June 19. It features a museum dedicated to the life and legacy of former President Barack Obama (2009–2017), as well as spaces for exhibitions, educational programs, and community activities.

It will also be the first fully digital museum of its kind, foregoing the display of numerous official documents. Instead, visitors will be able to experience high-tech, interactive exhibits covering the campaigns, key moments of Obama’s presidency, and life at the White House.

Iconic dresses worn by Michelle Obama will be on display at the venue.

About a dozen outfits on mannequins will be displayed behind glass, including a black-and-red dress designed by Narciso Rodríguez that the former first lady wore on election night in 2008 in Chicago, according to Agencia EFE.
