The Japan National Team had to modify its work plan in Monterrey just a few days before the start of the 2026 World Cup. The Asian team, known as the Blue Samurai, had planned to train at the Tigres Training Center, but finally moved one of their practices to the fields of the UANL School of Medicine.
According to local reports, the change was made because the Japanese coaching staff was not completely satisfied with the conditions of the CET field. The main concern was to avoid physical risks for the players at a key stage of World Cup preparation.

Japan arrived in Monterrey as part of its pre-World Cup 2026 training camp.
The original idea was to work for several days in facilities linked to Tigres, but the itinerary was adjusted at the last minute.
The training that was scheduled to take place in the afternoon at CET was moved to the morning at the UANL School of Medicine.
These facilities have been used previously by international teams, including Iraq during its adaptation process in Mexico.
Although it is not an injury or an internal sports problem, the change did attract attention because it occurred just after the arrival of the Japanese team to Nuevo León (Filed under: World Cup 2026: Japan changes venue).
A short preparation before traveling to the United States

Japan’s stay in Monterrey is part of a short training camp before continuing their preparation in the United States.
The team then plans to continue on to Tennessee, where its official base camp will be located during the 2026 World Cup.
Its World Cup base will be at the Nashville SC training center in Antioch, Tennessee.

Monterrey, under World Cup observation

The episode also puts under scrutiny the logistics of the World Cup in Monterrey, one of the Mexican venues of the tournament.
The city will host World Cup matches and will also serve as a preparation point for teams seeking to adapt to the climate, altitude and conditions of the region.
For a team like Japan, which tends to take care of every physical and tactical detail, the condition of the pitches is a central issue.
An uneven surface can affect the quality of training and increase the risk of muscle discomfort or injury (Filed as: World Cup 2026: Japan changes venue).
