During the 2026 edition of the Golden Globes in Los Angeles, actor Mark Ruffalo joined other celebrities to make a visible protest against immigration policies and certain aspects of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration. Ruffalo attended the red carpet wearing a pin on his lapel with the legends “Be Good” and “ICE Out”, symbols linked to a protest campaign that seeks to make visible victims of violence related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the treatment of immigrant communities.

The “Be Good” pin was worn by several Hollywood figures including Wanda Sykes, Jean Smart, Natasha Lyonne and Ariana Grande prior to the start of the ceremony, in honor of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old woman who died after a confrontation with an ICE agent in Minneapolis the week prior to the event.

In a red carpet interview with USA Today, Ruffalo explained that his stand was dedicated to Good and others affected by immigration actions he considers unjust. He stated that the message was meant to draw attention to the violence and fear that he believes many people in the United States face today.

The actor also took the opportunity to express criticism of U.S. foreign policy, mentioning in his statements the situation in Venezuela and questioning what he perceives as a general lack of respect for international law by political leaders.

During the exchange with reporters, Ruffalo described his protest as part of his concern for the country’s present and future. In his comments, he characterized the U.S. leader in extremely harsh terms, expressing his dissatisfaction with the current political climate and the direction of some government policies: “The guy is a crook.”

It is important to mention that some of these statements contain allegations that are not confirmed by official or judicial records. For example, Trump has not been convicted of sexual charges such as rape or pedophilia in criminal courts, and such claims are not supported by verified facts.

When asked for a response to Ruffalo’s comments, the White House responded through Steven Cheung, director of communications, calling the actor critical on social media, describing him as “one of the worst actors in the industry” and questioning his statements.

The appearance of pins with political messages at the 2026 Golden Globes demonstrates how some entertainment figures have decided to use high-profile platforms to express their stance on social and immigration issues.

Fans and critics alike reacted to the statements, making the event not only a celebration of film and television, but also a space for public debate on relevant issues on the national agenda.
