Major League Soccer (MLS) officially resumed its season on July 22, and one of the standout players was Mexico’s Héctor Herrera, who once again demonstrated his talent by scoring a spectacular goal for the Houston Dynamo in their 1-1 draw against D.C. United.
The experienced midfielder started for the Texas team and delivered an outstanding performance, scoring the opening goal in a hard-fought match. Although Houston was unable to secure the victory, the Mexican’s goal was one of the highlights of the day and once again confirmed his importance to the team.

The goal came in the 40th minute and resulted from a set piece.
After a free kick was sent into the box, the DC United defense managed to clear the ball.
But the ball landed on the edge of the box, right where Héctor Herrera appeared to score a spectacular goal for Houston.
The Mexican player calmly controlled the ball and, without letting it get away, fired a powerful shot that found the back of the net, leaving the opposing goalkeeper with no chance.
The goal allowed the Houston Dynamo to go into halftime with the lead and underscored the former Mexican national team player’s strong form.
Houston let the win slip away
In the second half, D.C. United rallied and tied the game, preventing Houston from earning all three points.
Herrera remained on the field until the 77th minute, when he was substituted after delivering a solid performance both in ball recovery and in creating plays.
Regardless of the final score, the midfielder made a positive impression thanks to his leadership and the skill he displayed on his goal.
The draw allowed the Houston Dynamo to earn a point as the season resumed.
