FIFA returns to the world of video games in 2025 with a completely new proposal: FIFA Rivals, a mobile game in which figures such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappé are transformed into superheroes with incredible abilities. This new release, developed by the Colombian studio Bacon Games in collaboration with the American Mythical Games, seeks to offer a visually stunning experience that is completely different from traditional soccer simulators.
Unlike the FIFA saga developed with EA Sports -partners since 1993 until the breakup of the agreement in 2022- FIFA Rivals abandons realism and opts for a cartoon style full of color, visual effects and acrobatic plays that defy physics. The videogame was officially presented in April and will be launched globally in the run-up to the 2025 Club World Cup, to be held in the United States from June 14.
Superstars, fire and more

In FIFA Rivals, players don’t just run and score goals:
They also jump several meters, shoot balls with trails of fire and execute impossible movements.
Jairo Nieto, CEO of Bacon Games, clarifies that the objective is not to simulate traditional soccer:
We do not want to replicate realism, but rather create our own, attractive and different experience
Jairo Nieto
The aesthetics of the characters in FIFA Rivals also break with convention:
Cristiano Ronaldo appears as a muscular super athlete, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic sports an exaggerated version of his most iconic facial features.
This artistic reinterpretation of the soccer players is the work of a team of 3D animators and designers in Bogota.
Free video game

FIFA Rivals will be free to download on iOS and Android devices.
But it will offer micropayments to unlock players with special abilities and exclusive items.
The model seeks to attract both young people and nostalgic fans of the old FIFA, combining fantasy elements with tournaments and real players.
In its first previews, the game has caused great expectation in social networks, especially in Latin America.
For Colombia, the development of the video game represents a regional milestone in the technology industry, consolidating its emerging role in the development of digital entertainment.
