Kevin Durant scored 25 points Friday in the Houston Rockets’ win and is 26 points shy of surpassing Michael Jordan’s NBA career scoring total of 32,292 points on a day in which the Boston Celtics kept pace with the Detroit Pistons at the top of the East.
On Friday night, Kevin Durant led his Rockets to a comfortable 117-95 victory over the Atlanta Hawks and can surpass Michael Jordan’s mark on Saturday at home against the Miami Heat or two days later in Chicago. The Rockets will visit the United Center on Monday, the temple of the Chicago Bulls with whom Michael Jordan was a six-time NBA champion.
The Pistons defend the lead
The Pistons defended their lead with a 115-101 home win over the Golden State Warriors, who are still without Stephen Curry due to a knee injury.
Detroit leads the East with a 51-19 record.
They have won three consecutive victories despite the prolonged absence of star player Cade Cunningham, who was diagnosed with a collapsed lung.
Cunningham is expected to return for the start of the playoffs in mid-April.

In second place are the Boston Celtics (47-23), who won 117-112 at the Memphis Grizzlies without Spanish player Santi Aldama with 30 points from Jaylen Brown.
Madrid’s Hugo González, selected with the 28th pick in the last draft, contributed five points, five rebounds and one assist in 14 minutes on the court for Boston.
