For Commanders, Jayden Daniels, who racked up 153 yards and a touchdown on the ground, was harassed all game by the opposing defense.

He suffered an interception and four catches. Injured his left elbow in the final period.

The Seahawks had an explosive first half.

In the first quarter, they trailed the Commanders defense 90 yards in 12 plays in an eight-minute drive to go up 0-7 on a touchdown toss to Tory Horton.

In the next period Seattle kept up its roller mode.

Sam Darnold once again breached the painted area with his second delivery for Horton to put them away 0-14, in the face of the inability of the defensive secondary to stop the visitors’ aerial circus.

The Seahawks extended the lead to 0-21 with another touchdown pass caught by Elijah Arroyo, a Mexican-born receiver.

This after their defense caused a fumble, and they were up 0-28 on Sam Darnold’s connection with Cody White.

The Commanders woke up a minute before halftime with a Jayden Daniels run, but Seattle responded with a last-second field goal to make the score 7-31.

In the third quarter, the Mike Macdonald-coached team extended the thrashing to 7-38 with a ground touchdown by Albert Barner.

Midway through the final period, Jayden Daniels suffered a serious injury to his left elbow.

It happened on a play in which he was knocked down by Drake Thomas, as he fell his arm levered against the turf, which caused his elbow to bend in the opposite direction of its natural movement, so he was unable to continue.

Despite Daniels’ groundout, Washington cut the lead to 14-38 on a run by Chris Rodriguez.

Week nine will conclude this Monday with the Arizona Cardinals’ visit to the Dallas Cowboys.
