Cruz Azul’s board of directors completed one of the most striking moves of the transfer market for the 2026 Clausura, confirming the departure of European midfielder Mateusz Bogusz, who will continue his career in the MLS with the Houston Dynamo.

The transfer represents a key operation for the club’s finances, as according to information shared by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the deal was closed at US$10 million. In addition, Cruz Azul would have secured an important additional benefit: a clause that grants it 30% of the profits in the event that Houston Dynamo sells the player in the future. This type of condition is increasingly common in modern soccer, especially when clubs seek to protect their investment and take advantage of a possible revaluation of the player, something that could happen if Bogusz manages to consolidate his position in the United States and becomes attractive to other leagues.

Bogusz leaves La Máquina despite his contract originally ending in December 2026.

This reflects that the exit was a strategic decision for both parties.

His agent Blash Hosseini was satisfied with the terms of the negotiation.

While the player has already begun the process to move to Texas.

In the next few days, he will undergo the corresponding medical examinations before signing his contract.

In sporting terms, the midfielder’s time at Cruz Azul fell far short of expectations.

His period was brief and with little regularity:

He played 563 minutes in 14 games, but failed to establish himself as a starter or have the impact expected when he arrived in Mexican soccer.

The transfer represents a key financial move for the club

Beyond the financial gain, Bogusz’s departure allows the club:

Free up a foreigner’s place, something valuable in Liga MX
Reduce the salary burden and open up space in the budget
Invest in reinforcements that are better adapted to the tournament

With this liquidity, Cruz Azul now has room to look for new additions under Nicolás Larcamón.

The idea is to find profiles that fit better with the team’s style and respond faster in competition.

For now, Cruz Azul and Houston Dynamo continue to work on the final documentation to formalize the move.

Meanwhile, the Cementera fans hope that this US$10 million will be translated into reinforcements that will strengthen the team and keep it as a serious candidate in the fight for the top spots in the championship.
