A few weeks ago, Cazzu and Belinda starred in a moment that caught the attention of the public and the networks: they coincided in an event in Mexico City and, in addition to greeting each other, they posed together showing an obvious complicity.

The images circulated quickly and, as is often the case when two popular figures appear together, many began to fantasize about a possible musical collaboration.

The idea sounded appealing: both have established careers, their own styles and a huge fan base that was quick to ask for a duet.

However, in a recent interview, the Argentine artist made it clear that she does not consider a collaboration viable at this time.

During a visit to Colombia, Cazzu spoke with the radio station La Mega and directly addressed the subject. His answer was forceful, although nuanced: he did not close the door forever, but explained that the current context makes it complicated.

“I don’t think it’s the best time to do something,” she said, and then delved into the point that, for her, makes the project unfeasible: the media noise that would inevitably accompany any collaboration between the two. Cazzu noted that she is frustrated that there is a “context” surrounding and linking them, and remarked that, in reality, she and Belinda – and other women linked by that public narrative – have much more in common than a man.

The backstory that connects Belinda and Cazzu

Although Cazzu spoke from her own experience, it is known that the link that constantly appears in public conversation has a name: Christian Nodal. Belinda was in a relationship with the Mexican singer between 2020 and 2022 and, as recalled Buzzy, they even got engaged.

In Cazzu’s case, her breakup with Nodal occurred in May 2024, and although the relationship ended, the bond remains because they share a daughter: Inti.

This is the crux of the discomfort expressed by the Argentinian.

She admitted that it bothers her that she and Belinda are reduced to that story, as if their public identity can only be read through that story. “It bothers me like seeing us reduced to that…,” she explained, adding that if that context didn’t exist, she would love to say yes and work with her.

Cazzu insisted that a duet, at this time, would be interpreted almost exclusively from morbidity, and that would end up contaminating the project. She said she doesn’t think it’s a good time to “sow something” that would inevitably be tied to a narrative that neither of them wants to feed. He also stressed that both have built their careers with their own efforts and that it would not make sense to move towards a space where “something else” is generated, unrelated to music and personal merit.

Despite ruling out collaboration, Cazzu spoke with admiration of Belinda. She recognized that she was an important figure for her before any controversy: she placed her as a key part of her pre-adolescence and of the soundtrack of many girls of her generation.

He also highlighted her longevity in the industry and praised her other facets, such as acting, describing her as a “very good”, “easy-going” artist with a career that he considers admirable.
