The Colombian group Bomba Estéreo and singer Carlos Vives joined forces to release this Thursday ‘La Samaria’, a tropical song with which they pay tribute to their native Santa Marta, which this year celebrated the 500th anniversary of its foundation.
“This song means a lot to me because it is a song from my homeland, where I grew up, where I was born and trained, and where I became the person I am,” said Bomba Estéreo vocalist Li Saumet in a statement from her label.

The artist considered that the Caribbean city of Santa Marta, capital of the department of Magdalena (north), is “a sacred place”, so she considers it important “to be able to offer that energy in a song”.
Bomba Estéreo’s invitation to Carlos Vives
“I invited Carlos to collaborate because he represents that Samarian figure (as the citizens of Santa Marta are known) in music and I felt that if I was going to work with someone, it had to be him. He shares that same love for the land,” added Saumet.
Vives, for his part, said that he was very happy “to share this song that celebrates the Samarian spirit with Bomba Estéreo”.
“It is a song of unity, pride and sense of belonging to Santa Marta, reflecting the nostalgia that Li and I feel every time we return home,” added the singer.

La Samaria’ is Bomba Estéreo’s first single after being part of the super band Astropical with Venezuelan band Rawayana.
Santa Marta, founded on July 29, 1525 by conquistador Rodrigo de Bastidas, celebrated five centuries since its founding this year with cultural events, institutional visits and a serenade on the beach by Vives, the most famous artist born in this Colombian Caribbean city, reported Agencia EFE.
