For more than a decade, whenever Mick Jagger appeared to publicly support a soccer team, thousands of fans began to worry. For many, the presence of the legendary Rolling Stones frontman became a sort of bad-luck charm that seemed to haunt the teams he backed.
However, the 2026 World Cup might have changed that story.
Mick Jagger’s curse is finally over!

The British musician was spotted this Saturday in one of the VIP boxes at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami during the quarterfinal match between England and Norway.
His appearance did not go unnoticed and quickly sparked a flood of comments on social media, where many fans recalled the famous “Mick Jagger curse.”
For years, the singer has been saddled with the reputation of being a “jinx” in the world of soccer.
In various countries, he has even been given buzzy nicknames associated with bad luck, due to the coincidence that several teams he supported ended up being eliminated at decisive moments.
How did the superstition begin?

It all began during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, when Jagger publicly expressed his support for teams such as England, Brazil, and the United States.
None of them managed to live up to expectations, and all were eliminated, fueling the legend among fans.
Four years later, history seemed to repeat itself.
At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, he once again expressed his support for England, Italy, and Portugal—teams that were also eliminated earlier than expected.
But the event that ultimately cemented his fame took place in Belo Horizonte.
Jagger went to Mineirão Stadium to watch the historic semifinal between Brazil and Germany.
That night ended up being one of the most painful defeats in the history of Brazilian soccer, when the Canarinha suffered a crushing 7-1 loss to the Germans.
Since then, every time the Rolling Stones’ frontman makes an appearance at a major game, it tends to become a trending topic, especially among superstitious fans.
Coincidence or something more?

The artist himself has taken this reputation in stride and has pointed out on several occasions that it’s all just a matter of coincidence.
Even so, the so-called “Mick Jagger curse” lived on among thousands of fans around the world.
This Saturday, however, the outcome was completely different.
England defeated Norway 2-1 in overtime thanks to a two-goal performance by Jude Bellingham and secured its spot in the 2026 World Cup semifinals, thereby shattering one of soccer’s most famous buzzy superstitions.
Social media reacted immediately with posts claiming that Mick Jagger had finally “cleared” his reputation for bringing bad luck.
Of course, as is often the case on the internet, there were also those who joked that perhaps the musician was actually rooting for Norway and not England.
Whether it was a coincidence or not, the fact is that this time the English national team emerged victorious with Mick Jagger in the stands, putting an end—at least for now—to a curious story that had dogged the legendary rocker for years.
