U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at film director Rob Reiner, who was murdered at his home in Los Angeles, whom he accused of maintaining an unhealthy obsession against him.
“Last night something very sad happened in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a once very talented but tormented and struggling film director and comedy star, passed away along with his wife, Michele,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.
The president attributed the crime to “the anger he provoked in others by his enormous, stubborn, incurable affliction with a mentally crippling illness known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

“He was known to have driven people CRAZY due to his raging obsession with President Donald J. Trump, with paranoia evident that reached new levels as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of grandeur,” he noted.

Reiner had criticized Trump’s efforts to influence entertainment and media companies in a recent interview, and compared the administration’s policies to the era of McCarthyism: “That seems almost naive compared to what’s happening in America right now,” he said.
Rob Reiner and his wife, producer and photographer Michele Reiner, were found dead Sunday at their Los Angeles home, where according to initial indications leaked by the press, their throats were slit by one of their sons.

The specialized magazine People points to the couple’s middle son, Nick, as the perpetrator, while the website TMZ indicates that the throats were slit by a relative, “possibly” after a fight, reported Agencia EFE.
