One week after its release in Mexico on June 18, “Toy Story 5” had grossed 374 million pesos (about 21.3 million dollars), making Mexico its most successful market in Latin America, according to figures from the National Chamber of the Film Industry (Canacine).
The film, produced by Disney and Pixar, drew 5.27 million viewers in Mexican theaters over seven days, outpacing films such as “The Day of Revelation,” directed by Steven Spielberg, which, since its theatrical debut on June 11, has attracted just 1.54 million viewers.

According to Box Office Mojo, the box office receipts for ‘Toy Story 5’ in Mexico exceed those of other major Latin American markets, such as Brazil ($6.53 million) and Argentina ($5.40 million), and even that of China ($18 million), one of Asia’s leading film markets.
‘Toy Story 5’ is set to break records for the franchise
The film’s success in the United States is merely a reflection of its international performance, which has so far grossed more than $366 million.
Mexican audiences have remained loyal to the franchise starring the gang led by Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie, as in 2019, *Toy Story 4* also surpassed $20 million in its first week in theaters and ended its theatrical run with a gross of nearly $72 million.

Although “Toy Story 5” got off to a great start, it failed to surpass “Inside Out 2” (2024), one of the biggest animated box office hits in the country, which grossed more than $29.85 million in its first few days of release.
Another of the year’s favorites that also failed to top the film directed by Andrew Stanton was “Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie,” which debuted with 394.4 million pesos (about 22.5 million dollars), according to Agencia EFE.
