“Team, I have a Venezuelan colleague who works with us at the theater. He needs our help today—his heart is weak, and he needs emergency surgery. I want to ask you from the bottom of my heart to help me raise funds,” the actress wrote, accompanying the post with a link to a fundraising campaign created on GoFundMe.
The initiative was organized by Samantha Dubuc, the actor’s sister, with the goal of raising the funds needed to pay for the treatment that could save his life.
According to his sister, Leopoldo’s medical condition began on May 15, when he suffered a moderate heart attack that required him to undergo various specialized tests.
The results revealed a concerning picture. An echocardiogram and a coronary CT angiogram showed that the two main arteries in his heart have severe blockages caused by cholesterol plaques, making immediate intervention essential.
In addition, doctors detected a blood clot in the heart’s main chamber, a complication resulting from the heart attack that significantly increases the risk to his health.
According to the specialist treating his case, the recommended treatment consists of radial-access coronary angioplasty, a procedure in which stents will be placed to restore blood flow.
Time is a decisive factor
The actor’s family explained that the surgery must be performed very soon, as another heart attack could have fatal consequences.
“Time is running out,” said Samantha, who added that the doctors recommended not waiting more than eight to ten days to perform the procedure.
Despite the difficult situation, she said that Leopoldo remains positive and is determined to recover, although he acknowledges that he needs the support of many people to cover his medical expenses.
“Any donation, no matter the amount, makes a huge difference and brings us closer to our goal,” he said.
