Joy Huerta of ‘Jesse & Joy’ bursts into tears when talking about what’s happening with her brother

The news that Jesse Huerta would be taking a break from Jesse & Joy came as a surprise to fans of the well-known Mexican duo, but it also took his own sister by surprise.

A week after the musician announced his decision, Joy Huerta spoke publicly about the future of the project and revealed that she had learned of the news just a few minutes before it was made public.

During a press conference held on September 22, Joy appeared to discuss her upcoming Christmas concert, *¿Con Quién Se Queda el Reno?*, scheduled for December 6 at the Auditorio Nacional. However, Jesse’s situation was one of the main topics of conversation.

When asked by the media about her brother’s hiatus, Joy couldn’t hide her emotions and spoke through tears about what she’s going through.

“I found out 20 minutes before the rest of you. I’m still processing it—it’s just too much information,” the singer explained, referring to Jesse’s decision.

Joy made it clear that she does not intend to speak on her brother’s behalf and that she fully respects the reasons that led him to make this decision.

“He has his reasons; I have no choice but to respect him,” he said during the press conference.

On September 15, Jesse Huerta announced that he would be taking a break from Jesse & Joy to spend more time with his family and focus on his personal well-being. The musician also explained that he would honor his existing commitments.

Although Jesse’s decision raised questions about the duo’s future, Joy confirmed that she intends to keep the musical project they both started more than two decades ago going.

After the conference, the singer shared a message in which she reaffirmed her position: “That’s why I’ve decided to keep going. Jesse & Joy will continue.”

The singer also confirmed that she is keeping her professional commitments for the remainder of 2026 and throughout 2027, including the Christmas concert she will perform at the Auditorio Nacional.

“I’m going to take the stage to share my voice with you on December 6 at the National Auditorium,” Joy said when talking about this new phase of her career.

“The stage will always have two microphones”

Despite Jesse’s temporary absence, Joy doesn’t seem willing to cut her brother loose from the life they’ve built together.

The singer recalled a remark she recently shared with her fans during a performance in Montreal, where she spoke about what the stage—which she has shared with Jesse for years—means to her.

“In Montreal, I told them that the stage will always have two microphones. And that’s how it will be,” he said.

Joy acknowledged that this new period is marked by uncertainty and fear, but she also highlighted the importance of the fans who have supported the duo throughout their career.

“As long as you want to keep singing with me, I’ll keep singing with you,” the singer wrote.

So, even though Jesse will be taking some time away from the stage, Joy Huerta has made it clear that she will continue with her music and Jesse & Joy’s commitments while her brother goes through this new personal chapter.
