As he explained, Mauro was suffering from pneumonia when he decided to take a trip to the island of Barbados.
According to the program, he participated in sports activities during his stay, but later began to have difficulty breathing, so he was taken to a hospital, where he received medical care. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, he died shortly thereafter.

The reality show, hosted by Carmen Villalobos, had already begun filming in preparation for its premiere, scheduled for early September.
Journalist Lourdes Stephen reported on *Al rojo vivo* that, after hearing the news, the *Top Chef VIP* production team decided to suspend filming for a few days.
As he explained, both the participants and the production team were deeply affected by what happened.
