The HBO platform released on Wednesday the first trailer for the first season of the Harry Potter series, which will consist of eight episodes and is scheduled to premiere at Christmas.
Under the iconic title ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,’ the highly anticipated television adaptation faithfully embraces the legacy of the original work by returning to the name that started the legend.
“The series will premiere Christmas 2026 on HBO and will be available online exclusively on HBO Max in all markets where it is available,” the platform said in a statement.

Starring Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, the series begins on the protagonist’s 11th birthday, just as the 2001 film of the same title begins.
New ‘Harry Potter’ series to premiere on HBO
“A letter of admission to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world to Harry: a world of fun, friendship and magic. But this new adventure comes with great risk, as Harry is forced to confront a dangerous enemy from his past,” the synopsis noted.
Like the eight films headlined by Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione) and Rupert Grint (Ron), the HBO series is based on J. K. Rowling’s books and promises to be “a faithful adaptation” of the books.

It is planned that each season will be based on one of the installments of the saga, with the intention of extending the production over a decade.
Rowling wrote seven Harry Potter books, which have sold more than 600 million copies, while the eight films have grossed US$6.822 billion, according to figures from the specialized website Box Office Mojo, reported Agencia EFE.
