The Dodgers extended their dominance over the Brewers in the best-of-seven series for a berth in the MLB World Series to three wins on Thursday with a 3-1 victory, a result that leaves them one win away from advancing to the playoffs.
In the other game of the day, the Toronto Blue Jays won on the road to even the series with the Mariners at 2-2.
Dodgers 3-1 Brewers

Tyler Glasnow shined from the mound, Japan’s Shohei Ohtani scored a run, while Mookie Betts and Tommy Edman each drove in a run as the Dodgers extended their lead to 3-0.
One more win and the Los Angeles team will go on to play for the MLB World Series championship twice.
Glasnow pitched 5.2 innings of one-run ball and struck out eight batters, giving way to left-hander Alex Vesia (2-0), who worked two-thirds of a scoreless inning with one strikeout and earned the victory.
Japan’s Roki Sasaki (3) pitched a scoreless ninth inning and earned the save for the Dodgers.
Ohtani drives early lead

Japanese star Shohei Ohtani, who had just three hits in his previous 29 plate appearances, led off the game with a triple and then scored on a double by Betts.
This gave an early lead to the defending MLB champions.
Jake Bauers drove in the only run for the Brewers, who had to remove Venezuelan Jackson Chourio from the game with a right hamstring cramp.
The Dodgers and Brewers will meet again this Friday at Dodger Stadium in what could be the sweep game in the Championship Series.
Ohtani is expected to take the mound.
Mariners 3-8 Blue Jays

Max Scherzer showed the best of his repertoire and Venezuelan Andres Gimenez and Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. backed him up by sending the ball out of the park.
In the Toronto Blue Jays’ solid away win that left the MLB American League Championship Series at 2-2.
Scherzer (1-0), a three-time Cy Young Award winner and two-time World Series champion, made the most of his MLB postseason experience to pitch 5.2 two-strikeout, five-strikeout innings to pick up the win for Toronto.
Giménez hit a two-run home run, his second in consecutive games, and added a two-run-producing single to end the game with four runs.
Guerrero Jr. keeps Azulejos alive

Guerrero Jr. hit his fifth home run of this MLB postseason for the Blue Jays (2-2), who after losing the first two games of this series at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, have won both at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.
Josh Naylor drove in a run and Venezuelan Eugenio Suarez drove in Dominican Jorge Polanco for the Mariners (2-2).
Dominican Luis Castillo (1-1), who started for Seattle, could only stay on the mound for 2.1 episodes, in which he allowed three runs and took the loss.
The Blue Jays and Mariners face each other again this Friday, looking to take the lead in the fifth game of this duel for the ticket to the World Series in the MLB American League.
