Mexican closer Andrés Muñoz once again demonstrated why he is one of the most reliable arms in the Major Leagues. In Seattle’s 2-0 victory over Kansas City, the Sinaloa native earned his 36th save, placing him third in the MLB in saves, behind only Carlos Estévez (40) and Robert Suárez (39).

In the ninth inning, with two runners on base, Muñoz grew under pressure and struck out Adam Frazier with three wild pitches, securing the Mariners’ victory.

With this result, the Mariners reached a record of 84-69, which allows them to tie with the Houston Astros at the top of the American League West Division.

This battle for the lead promises to last until the last days of the season.

The loser could be relegated to fighting for the wild card alongside teams like Cleveland and Texas.

Dominican starter Luis Castillo, in addition to Andrés Muñoz, was another key to the win, pitching six solid innings in which he allowed just three hits.

In the offense, compatriot Jorge Polanco drove in one of the two runs with a single to center field.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are still in full recovery mode.

Left-hander Max Fried was impressive with 13 strikeouts in seven innings, earning his 18th win of the season, the most in all of the major leagues.

The offense backed up its work with a 7-0 shutout of Baltimore, a result that brought the Yankees to within three games of Toronto in the East Division.

With just nine games left to play, New York controls one of the American League wild cards and looks to close the schedule strong.

On another front, the Cleveland Rangers reached their seventh consecutive victory by defeating Detroit 3-1.

They were fueled by home runs by Dominicans Jhonkensy Noel and José Ramírez.

With this result, Cleveland remains one and a half games out of the last American League playoff spot.

Meanwhile, the New York Mets beat the San Diego Padres 6-1.

Dominican Juan Soto reached 100 RBIs on the season, reaffirming his value in his first year with the New York ninth.
