Mexican Monterrey’s Spanish center-back, Sergio Ramos, launched this Sunday, August 31, the song ‘Cibeles’, in a reggaeton rhythm, in which he claims Real Madrid for his departure from the club in 2021.

“I killed for you, I loved you and defended you, but it was not in me, you asked me to fly. I dressed up, I gave you blood and sweat…. I gave you a crown, you gave me wings. I didn’t know they were just for you to take me away”, says the lyrics of the song interpreted by Ramos.

Sergio Ramos won 22 titles with Real Madrid, five La Liga titles, four times the Champions League, four editions of the Club World Cup, three editions of the European Super Cup, two editions of the Copa del Rey and four times the Spanish Super Cup.

Despite these successes, the defender left the team in 2021.

The 39-year-old defender, who went on to play for Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla and now Monterrey, has not forgotten his departure from the white club.

That’s why he captured it in a piece of music that he worked on in collaboration with Mexican composer Carín León.

“A game lasts 90 minutes and I gave you 93 more than the count. I never got tired of trying, this story was a legend.

“I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees…. I hope it goes well for you, although without you I feel bad. Good thing I left, because you didn’t treat me the same. You loved me and I loved you, but someone always gives more,” sings the defender.

Sergio Ramos made the release through a video he posted on his Instagram and YouTube accounts.

In the piece, Ramos appears in a desolate Plaza de la Cibeles, where the fountain in which Madrid celebrates all its sporting glories is located.

The video continues with a barrage of images of historic moments that the defender experienced with Real Madrid, such as the goal he scored against Atlético de Madrid in the 93rd minute of the 2014 Champions League final, which meant the tie and opened the way to the title.

The video ends with the stone figure of Cybele crumbling, as he sings.

“You forgot about me, you left me without being able to decide, that’s what hurts me the most. And although everything was like that, I would come back ‘encantao’, once and even a thousand times, you ‘sabe’ Cibeles”.

Sergio Ramos is a star player at Monterrey, along with his compatriot Sergio Canales, and one of the main players in Mexican soccer.
