Jennifer Lopez became a trending topic on social media after several videos began circulating in which she allegedly expressed her support for the immigration policies of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and President Donald Trump. The posts, shared thousands of times on platforms such as TikTok and Facebook, showed the singer making statements against Latino immigrants. However, various analyses confirmed that the footage had been manipulated using artificial intelligence.
The recordings surfaced amid protests that have taken place in various U.S. cities in response to the stricter immigration policies promoted by the Donald Trump administration. The raids, deportations, and operations led by ICE have sparked widespread debate and strong criticism from human rights organizations.
Jennifer Lopez’s Alleged Statements
In one of the viral videos, a voice attributed to Jennifer López can be heard saying that she would support ICE agents and even call for reinforcements against Mexican migrants. However, a search for those statements yielded no record of interviews, statements, or official posts by the singer.
The analysis made it possible to trace the actual source of the images. The footage is from an interview Jennifer Lopez gave to host Howard Stern in June 2026. During the interview, the artist spoke in English about various moments in her career and recalled her performance alongside Shakira during the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show, without ever mentioning buzzy issues related to immigration or politics.
In addition, experts determined that the video had been flipped horizontally and that the voice exhibited characteristics typical of audio generated by artificial intelligence. A specialized tool used to analyze the content indicated a 99% probability that the voice had been created using AI.
Other posts used real photos and videos of Jennifer Lopez at public events to fabricate new false messages. In one of them, the singer apparently claimed that she supported ICE because it was “cleaning up” the country of Latino immigrants.
The images were actually from the 2024 IndieWire Honors ceremony, where the actress was recognized for her performance in the film *Unstoppable*. The original speech, which is publicly available, contains no reference to ICE or immigration issues.
Another of the doctored videos used clips from an interview conducted by CBS Sunday Morning in 2025. Although the footage is indeed from that interview, the audio was altered to make it seem as though Jennifer Lopez was expressing support for President Donald Trump and celebrating the departure of immigrants from the country.
Jennifer Lopez’s public record contradicts the videos
The false posts also stand in contrast to the public stance Jennifer Lopez has maintained in recent years. The singer, whose parents are from Puerto Rico, openly supported Democratic candidate Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign.
In that context, López publicly expressed his support for immigrant families and advocated for policies aimed at protecting their rights—a position that differs completely from the messages conveyed in the doctored videos.
This case once again highlights the impact of artificial intelligence on the creation of fake content and the speed with which such material can go viral on social media. The use of real images combined with digitally generated voices has made it increasingly difficult to distinguish between authentic content and manipulated material, especially when it involves public figures with an international reach.
