Born in Washington, D.C., in December 1981, Josh Grisetti developed a solid artistic foundation at a very young age. He studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts and later earned a bachelor’s degree in musical theater from the Boston Conservatory, where he graduated in 2004.
His big break on Broadway came in 2015 when he played Marty Kaufman in the musical *It Shoulda Been You*. His performance received rave reviews and earned him a Theatre World Award, as well as nominations for the Drama Desk Awards and the Outer Critics Circle Awards.
A year later, he cemented his reputation by playing Nigel Bottom in *Something Rotten!*, a production in which he shared the stage with Rob McClure, who played his brother in the story. Both also took part in the national tour of the hit musical.
In addition to his distinguished theater career, Grisetti also built a career on screen.
In 2007, he appeared in the comedy series *The Knights of Prosperity*, where he shared the screen with Donal Logue and Sofía Vergara. He later appeared in shows such as *Nurse Jackie* and *The Good Fight*.

The actor explained that he had to leave the project before its premiere for personal reasons, though he expressed his deep gratitude for the support of the cast and production team.
“When you have to leave a production for personal reasons before it premieres and the cast does something like that… I literally cried on the plane,” she wrote at the time, never imagining that it would be her last public message.
After the news broke, numerous figures in the entertainment industry expressed their sadness.
Oscar winner Ariana DeBose shared a message of condolence, while actress Donna Murphy described the loss as “truly devastating” and remembered Grisetti as an exceptional artist and a generous person.
For her part, Sierra Boggess, who worked alongside him on *It Shoulda Been You*, highlighted his tremendous creativity as an actor, director, and writer.
Actress Erika Henningsen, his co-star in the musical *Diner*, also shared some heartfelt words about him.
