Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show received nine nominations on Wednesday at the 78th Emmy Awards, making it the most-nominated halftime show in the history of the championship.
The Puerto Rican performer’s show is nominated in several categories that recognize the best variety shows for production design, choreography, direction, hairstyling, lighting design, musical direction, sound mixing, technical direction, and best camerawork. It is also in the running for the award for best live variety special.
In addition, the episode of *Saturday Night Live* hosted by the artist in October 2025 is nominated for Best Makeup in a Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Program at this year’s Emmy Awards.
During his much-talked-about Super Bowl performance, which took place during the game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, Bad Bunny asserted that “America” refers to the entire continent—not just the United States—by displaying all the flags of the region.
The singer closed his concert by shouting, “God bless America!” while holding an American football that read “Together we’re America” and as a parade featuring the flags and names of every country on the continent, from Chile to Canada.
A show that has become the most-nominated Super Bowl halftime show in history—a record previously held since 2017 by Lady Gaga, who was also nominated today for an Emmy for the song “The Dead Dance” from the series “Wednesday.”
The American singer was one of the guest artists at Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl concert, where she performed a salsa version of her song with Bruno Mars, “Die With A Smile,” and danced alongside the Puerto Rican artist to the song “Baile Inolvidable.”
Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin was also invited to the show to perform an acoustic version of Bad Bunny’s song “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawái,” in which he compares gentrification and Puerto Rico’s colonial status to the United States’ annexation of Hawaii in the 19th century.
The nominations were announced by actress Liza Colón-Zayaes, who is of Puerto Rican descent and best known for the series “The Bear,” and American actor and comedian Jeff Hiller.
The awards ceremony will be held on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, and will be broadcast by the U.S. network NBC, according to Agencia EFE.
