During an event held at the White House, Trump stated that U.S. naval capabilities allow him to ensure security and the flow of ships in the region. The president even suggested that maritime control and blockade measures may have a greater impact than traditional military operations.

“We have complete control of the strait; we have a navy capable of imposing a blockade. I believe our blockade had a greater impact than dropping bombs,” the U.S. president said.
The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
A significant portion of the oil exported from oil-producing countries in the region to markets around the world travels along this route.
Any disruption to maritime traffic in this area could affect international energy prices and cause concern in global markets.
For this reason, Trump’s statements have drawn the attention of both governments and investors.

The U.S. president’s remarks come after Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz following a new escalation of violence related to Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory.
However, U.S. officials have insisted that commercial shipping continues to operate.
Vice President JD Vance, who recently participated in diplomatic talks with Iranian representatives in Switzerland, stated that merchant ships continue to use shipping routes in the region.
At the same time, Washington is keeping up the pressure on Tehran to fulfill the commitments set forth in the memorandum of understanding recently signed by the two countries.
The agreement aims to reduce tensions and usher in a 60-day negotiation period focused on reaching a broader deal that includes new conditions for Iran’s nuclear program.

The president made it clear that the United States expects Iran to abide by the agreement.
“If Iran does not comply with the agreement or does not behave as it should, I will do whatever I have to do,” he said when asked about the possibility of resuming military action in the event of noncompliance.
Trump also downplayed recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has said he does not plan to withdraw troops from the occupied areas in southern Lebanon.
Israel’s stance could pose a new challenge for diplomatic negotiations, especially after Tehran delayed the start of talks in Switzerland due to the attacks that took place on Lebanese territory.
Despite the obstacles, Trump expressed confidence that he would be able to find solutions.
“I’m a problem-solver. I solve problems very quickly, even with Bibi (Netanyahu),” the president concluded.
