Mexican actor Manuel García-Rulfo became one of the most talked-about names on social media after being photographed alongside Shakira as they left an exclusive hotel in Los Angeles. The photos, initially shared by the popular entertainment account DeuxMoi and picked up by various international media outlets, sparked a wave of reactions and fueled rumors of a possible romance between the Jalisco-born actor and the Colombian star.
The photos show the two of them chatting casually, smiling, and sharing a moment that many internet users interpreted as a sign of closeness. García-Rulfo was even photographed opening the door of his car so the singer could get in first, a gesture that many users described as chivalrous.
Reactions were quick to pour in. While some celebrated the possibility that Shakira might be starting a new chapter in her love life, others pointed out that the singer had stated in previous interviews that, for now, she wasn’t interested in starting a new romantic relationship. So far, neither of them has made any statements to confirm or deny the speculation.
Manuel García-Rulfo: From a Ranch in Jalisco to Conquering Hollywood
Rumors aside, the unexpected encounter piqued the curiosity of thousands of people, who began to wonder who Manuel García-Rulfo really is.
The actor was born on February 25, 1981, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, but grew up in La Cañada, a family ranch where he spent much of his childhood surrounded by cousins and far removed from the arts scene. It was precisely in that setting that his passion for cinema was born, thanks to the influence of his grandfather, who organized family screenings of classic films and even made homemade productions to entertain the whole family.

Interestingly, before he ever thought about acting, García-Rulfo dreamed of becoming a photographer for National Geographic. His interest in telling stories through images led him to study Communication at the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac. He later traveled to the United States to continue his training at various schools specializing in film, including the New York Film Academy.
During that time, he discovered that his true calling was not behind the camera, but in front of it. After appearing in a few Mexican productions, he decided to settle in Los Angeles with the goal of making a name for himself in the international film industry.
A career that has continued to grow
The early years weren’t easy, but little by little, Manuel García-Rulfo began to land increasingly significant roles. After appearing in Mexican films such as *La última y nos vamos* and *180 grados*, he managed to make the leap to Hollywood.
Over time, he went on to star in big-budget productions alongside renowned figures in international cinema. Among the most notable titles in his career are *The Magnificent Seven*, in which he shared the screen with Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt; *Murder on the Orient Express*, directed by Kenneth Branagh; *Widows*, by Steve McQueen; *Sicario: Day of the Soldado*; *6 Underground*; *Greyhound*, alongside Tom Hanks; and *A Man Called Otto*.
However, the project that marked a turning point in his career was the Netflix series *The Lincoln Lawyer*. In this series, he plays the lawyer Mickey Haller, a character previously portrayed on the big screen by Matthew McConaughey.

The actor said that one of the things that most appealed to him about the role was bringing back the character’s Latino heritage, a trait present in the novels written by Michael Connelly but one that had taken a back seat in previous adaptations.
His rise in the industry continued with his starring role in the Netflix adaptation of *Pedro Páramo* and, more recently, with his addition to the *Jurassic World: Rebirth* franchise.
A personal life marked by discretion
Unlike many celebrities, Manuel García-Rulfo tries to keep his private life out of the spotlight. In fact, he has acknowledged in several interviews that he doesn’t particularly enjoy the exposure on social media.
He even admitted that he deleted his Instagram account a couple of times because he prefers to live a more peaceful life. When he uses social media, he usually shares photos of landscapes, animals, or natural settings, avoiding posting details about his love life.
Precisely because of that low profile, there is little information about his romantic relationships. In an interview with Hello! Magazine In October 2024, the actor said he felt lucky in love and commented, “There’s a lot of love in my life, thank God.”

In recent years, he has also been buzzy about Audrey McGraw, the daughter of renowned country singers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The relationship came to light after she shared several posts on social media in 2023. Although the two kept their romance very private, various U.S. media outlets reported that the couple had ended their relationship in early 2026.
Now, following his recent appearance alongside Shakira, Manuel García-Rulfo’s name is once again making international headlines. However, as long as neither of the parties involved confirms or denies the rumors, everything remains in the realm of speculation.
