U.S. network ABC has announced a spin-off series from the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe that will air during the 2026-2027 season and will feature Shonda Rhimes -creator of the original series- and actress Ellen Pompeo -starring- as executive producers.
The as-yet-untitled project will also feature Meg Marinis, creative head of the original series since its twentieth season, according to U.S. media outlet Variety.
“I am very excited to expand the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe,” Marinis said in a statement.
“This opportunity will bring to life new characters and stories that will embody the same essence, emotion and connection that audiences have loved in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ for more than two decades,” he added.

According to the official synopsis announced by the network, the series is a drama set in a remote area of Texas, centered on the team working at a rural medical center that is “the last chance to get medical care before going into nowhere.”
This new series, produced by 20th Television and Shondaland, would be the fourth set in the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ (‘Grey’s Anatomy’) universe following ‘Private Practice’ (‘Walk-In’, six seasons from 2007 to 2013), ‘Station 19’ (‘Station 19’, 7 seasons from 2018 to 2024) and ‘Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team’ (six episodes in 2018).
