Mexico on alert

Will Portugal humiliate them? Chiefs uncover crisis 79 days before the World Cup

With only 79 days to go until the ball rolls at the 2026 World Cup, the Mexican National Team looks like a ship adrift. In the most recent episode of QuéOnnda TV, the panel of Los Jefes put their finger on the pulse of the upcoming friendlies against Portugal and Belgium: Are we ready to compete or are we going straight to the slaughterhouse?

The debate began with an explosive editorial by Álvaro “El Brujo” Morales, who revealed details of his conversation with Duilio Davino, director of national teams. The conclusion? The internal structure of El Tri is fractured. Davino admitted that the departure of “Jimmy” Lozano was a decision that went beyond him and came “from above”, making it clear that the current sports project has many hands and little clarity. The Jefes analyze the crisis at El Tri in this episode.

The “Vasco” under the spotlight and the shadow of “Tuca”

Tensions rose when Morales asked an uncomfortable question: “Is Tuca Ferretti better than Vasco Aguirre?

Faced with Davino’s ambiguous response, Dionisio Estrada was categorical: “If they don’t answer you, it’s because they know that Tuca is better”.

For Ricardo “El Tuca” Ferretti, time is the worst enemy.

With only 79 days remaining, the Brazilian strategist questioned whether Aguirre has already reached clear conclusions or whether he is still swimming in a sea of doubts.

Naturalized for lack of quality?

The topic of the “New Mexicans” ignited the table.

Fernando Ceballos lashed out at Álvaro Fidalgo and Germán Berterame, asserting that they choose El Tri because in Spain or Argentina “they can’t afford it”.

However, “Tuca” broke ranks and defended one player in particular: “I would take Quiñones, even though I don’t like naturalized players”.

For his part, the absence of “Hormiga” González from “Vasco’s” top 3 strikers (where Raúl Jiménez, “Chaquito” and Berterame lead) was described as a pity by Ceballos, who defended to the death the Chivas base for the national team.

The Azteca Stadium: A national disgrace?

Not everything is what happens on the court.

The Jefes regretted that, less than three months before the inauguration, the Coloso de Santa Ursula is not finished.

“It is the lack of project demonstrated in cement and rebar,” they pointed out, warning that Mexico could make a fool of itself not only on the scoreboard against Portugal, but also in the organization of the most important event on the planet.

Do you think El Tri has what it takes to give Cristiano’s Portugal a fight or is “Vasco” Aguirre just buying time?

Los Jefes’ trajectory

This high-level debate is conducted by true institutions of journalism and soccer:

Álvaro Morales: The controversial “Brujo”, opinion leader and the most disruptive voice in the industry.

Ricardo “El Tuca” Ferretti: Living legend of Mexican soccer, multi-champion as a coach and absolute authority on strategy.

Carlos Hermosillo: The “Giant of Cerro Azul”, Cruz Azul’s all-time leading scorer and a benchmark in the area.

Dionisio Estrada: Iron analyst, known for his firm character and impeccable data management.

Fernando Ceballos: The voice of the “Rebaño”, expert on Chivas current affairs and defender of the national youth academy.
