Australian actress Teagan Croft and American actor Milo Manheim will star in the live-action version of ‘Tangled,’ Disney’ s 2010 animated film, The Hollywood Reporter reported Wednesday.
The ‘Titans’ actress will play the princess, voiced by Mandy Moore in the animated film directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, while the Zombies franchise star will take on the role of Flynn Rider, originally played by Zachary Levi.
The project will be directed by Michael Gracey, known for films such as ‘The Greatest Showman’ or ‘Betterman’, and according to the publication, the film, like the original, will feature musical elements.
Tangled is one of Disney’s most recent animated blockbusters.
The script will be written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (‘Do Revenge’), and Kristin Burr (‘Freakier Friday’) will produce the film.
Croft and Manheim were chosen after conducting screen tests in London in December.
‘Tangled’ follows Rapunzel, a young princess with magical hair who, after years of confinement, embarks on an adventure to discover the outside world alongside the thief Flynn Rider.
The original version of this successful project grossed more than US$591 million worldwide and spawned a successful Disney Channel series of the same name, also starring Moore and Levy, reported EFE.
