The friendly match between the national teams of Venezuela and Belize, which was scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, in the U.S. city of Chicago, was cancelled due to “force majeure circumstances”, informed the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) on Saturday.<\/p>\n

In a statement<\/a> shared on the social network X, the institution assured that it was notified of the cancellation by “the production company VMG Sports & Entertainment LLC<\/a>, in charge of organizing” the friendly. “The company acknowledged that initial efforts were made to explore alternative venues, including a possible relocation to Miami. However, we were notified of the unfeasibility – in the producer’s view – of this option,” the text reads.<\/p>\n

The Venezuelan Football Federation regretted this situation which, it said:<\/p>\n

It affects “the sports planning of the senior national team, designed in advance and in strict compliance with FIFA protocols for the current international date”.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the Venezuelan national team lost 1-0 to Argentina, reigning world champions and two-time champions of the Americas.<\/p>\n

In a friendly match played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.<\/p>\n

This match marked the beginning of the renewal process of the Vinotinto’s squad and coaching staff, after being left out of the 2026 World Cup, and also served as preparation for the Albiceleste’s preparations for the U.S., Mexico and Canada.<\/p>\n

This was the debut of former soccer player Oswaldo Vizcarrondo as Venezuela’s interim coach, replacing Argentinean Fernando ‘Bocha’ Batista, who ended his tenure without managing to get the Venezuelan team to its first World Cup.<\/p>\n
