The boxing<\/a> world is in mourning. Arturo Gatti Jr., son of the renowned Canadian-Italian champion Arturo “Thunder” Gatti, died at the age of 17, according to Moe Latif, trainer and lifelong friend of the legendary boxer.<\/p>\n

The news, which shocked sports fans and the international boxing community, initially spread through social networks and was later confirmed by sources close to the family.<\/p>\n

Former bodyguard and personal friend of the late boxer, Chuck Zito, was one of the first to share the news. In a post on Instagram he wrote: “It is with great regret that I have to say…. R.I.P. to 17-year-old ARTURO GATTI JR.”<\/p>\n

Zito added that the young man had taken his own life in Mexico, in circumstances reminiscent of his father’s death in 2009. “The same way his father was found dead in an apartment in Brazil 16 years ago,” he noted.<\/p>\n

Zito’s comment made reference to the mysterious death of Arturo Gatti Sr., who was found lifeless in a hotel room in Porto de Galinhas, Brazil, on July 11, 2009.<\/p>\n
