The horror film ‘Weapons’ continues to lead the box office in its second weekend of release, with a worldwide gross of $187.7 million, a path followed by ‘Freakier Fridey’ (‘Put Yourself in My Place Again’), which maintained second place with $14.5 million more locally, despite the arrival in theaters of the action thriller ‘Nobody 2’ (‘Nobody 2′).<\/p>\n

Weapons’, written, produced and directed by Zach Cregger, which tells the story of the disappearance of some fellow students, earned $25 million at the U.S. box office, compared to the $43 million of its premiere, which does not prevent it from consolidating its place in the top five highest grossing films, according to data from the specialized website Box Office Moho.<\/p>\n

Despite a 50% drop since its release 10 days ago, ‘Freakier Friday’, the Disney film in which Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reprise their roles as mother and daughter, remains in second place in the ranking and has grossed $86.3 million worldwide.<\/p>\n

This weekend’s only major release, Universal’s thriller ‘Nobody 2’ starring Bob Odenkirk, failed to make the expected impact and went straight into third place with $9.2 million grossed in the U.S. for a global total of $14.1 million.<\/p>\n

The new adventure of Marvel’s legendary ‘The Fantastic Four’ suffered a sharp drop to fourth place with only $8.8 million new dollars at the domestic box office in its fourth weekend in theaters.<\/p>\n

Worldwide, the Disney film, starring Chilean actor Pedro Pascal, has grossed US$468.7 million.<\/p>\n

Closing this week’s top five is ‘The Bad Guys 2’, with $57.2 million more in the United States and $117.4 million worldwide since its release on August 1.<\/p>\n
