reiterated this point in an official message on its social network, warning that possessing a green card does not automatically protect an immigrant from being removed from the residents with criminal records may be detained and deported when attempting to re-enter the country at any border crossing point.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-8\">This warning is based on federal authority to revoke resident status when certain violations are committed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-8\">According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), these are the main reasons a green card holder can be deported:<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-8\"><strong>Convictions for serious crimes:<\/strong> domestic violence, drug trafficking, fraud, theft or sex crimes.<br \/>\n<strong>Prolonged absences<\/strong> from the country without permission to re-enter or without maintaining continuous residency.<br \/>\n<strong>Deception in obtaining residency<\/strong>, such as using false documents or lying in interviews.<br \/>\n<strong>Failure to comply with tax obligations<\/strong> to the IRS or state authorities.<br \/>\n<strong>Voluntary abandonment of immigration permanent residents must:<br \/>\nComply with all federal, state and local laws.<br \/>\nFile annual tax returns with the IRS.<br \/>\nNot vote in federal or state elections.<br \/>\nRegister with the Selective Service, if male, between the ages of 18 and 25.<br \/>\nUphold the democratic system of government in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-10\">Failure to comply with any of these obligations may be grounds to lose residency and face removal proceedings before an immigration judge.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"ai-optimize-11\">What if you are already a naturalized citizen?<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"ai-optimize-13\"><strong>Illegal naturalization:<\/strong> failure to comply with basic residency or moral conduct requirements.<br \/>\n<strong>Concealment of<\/strong> relevant<strong>information<\/strong> in the application process.<br \/>\n<strong>Membership in communist<\/strong> or terrorist<strong>groups<\/strong> within five years of naturalization.<br
