overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fweb.facebook.com%2FMarioGuevaraNews%2Fvideos%2F525620477245014%2F&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=267&amp;t=0\" width=\"267\" height=\"591\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-8\">The demonstration took place near Chamblee Tucker Road in DeKalb County, an area that has been the scene of multiple immigration raids in recent months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-8\">According to local media reports such as WSB-TV, between 15 and 20 people were arrested during the protest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-8\">Of that group, only four had been released as of Monday morning, June 16.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-9\">Mario Guevara, a reporter with years of experience covering issues affecting the Latino community, was arrested around 4:49 p.m. (Atlanta local time) on Saturday, while doing a live broadcast through his <a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/MarioGuevaraNews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official Facebook account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-9\">He has since remained in custody, and so far it has not been confirmed whether he is eligible for bail.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"ai-optimize-10\">Why was a new charge added to Mario Guevara?<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_50604\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-50604\" style=\"width: 1201px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-50604\" src=\"https:\/\/nuevaonda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/mario-guevara-collage.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1201\" height=\"705\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-50604\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mario Guevara&#8217;s charges increased to 3 \/ PHOTO: Screenshot of Mario Guevara&#8217;s Facebook page.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-10\">No official explanation has been given as to why the charge of \u201cunlawful assembly\u201d was not levied upon initial admission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-10\">Univision reported that Mario Guevara&#8217;s legal team has avoided making any statements at this time, but they expect to make a statement in the near future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-11\">These types of charges are usually applied when the authorities consider that a demonstration was unauthorized or took place outside the established legal limits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-11\">However, press freedom organizations have raised their voices to denounce what could be a criminalization of journalism in contexts of social protest.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"ai-optimize-12\">Solidarity and demands for freedom<\/h2>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-17\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none;
